The second I found out I was having a girl, I ordered two BlaBla mermaid dolls. I had seen them years before and knew that I if I had a girl, I was going to do a mermaid nursery theme. I used to work in a local art gallery in college and I started collecting mermaid pieces back then and I used them all in her room.
The duvet cover on the twin bed is from Pottery Barn and is organic.
The twin bed and dressers were my husband's, Peter, childhood bedroom furniture. The accent color used to be a blue, but he painted pink over it for Penelope. I would have loved some fancy Pottery Barn furniture, but I really like that her furniture has a good story and some history.
That teddy bear plays a heart, white noise sound, when turned on and was mine when I was a baby.
And I loved the time I spent organizing her closet when I was pregnant. When I was having a hard day early post partum, I would literally march myself up to her room and just look at it and take some deep breaths. Looking at a perfectly clean and organized closet instantly calms me down and makes me happy. I am weird, I know. But after I told you about my house growing up, you understand!
The BlaBla dolls that inspired the whole room. Penelope loves these dolls now, by the way, and she also has Mrs. Fox. They make the best stuffed toys for little ones, the perfect size, well made, great design.
