Current Giveaway: EIO Sippy Cup!

I came across the EIO Sippy Cup on a random google search and immediately fell in love.  I am ga-ga for mason jars and the concept of a safe, mason jar cup with a lid was just too awesome to not make an immediate purchase.

Penelope got another one for Christmas so now she has two, purple and green.  She is still a little young to use it by herself, but I love that this cup will actually help teach her how to use a regular cup without a lid, unlike other sippy cups.  I think she likes that it's more like a grown up cup too.

They wash easy, store easy, carry along in the diaper bag easy (although don't turn your bag upside down or anything crazy, because it's not spill proof).  This is my new diaper bag these days (which is freaking awesome and my favorite PPB so far) and it has 5 million pockets and the EIO cup is the perfect size for the pockets and I never have any spillage.

I agree with this Mama blogger, who also reviewed the EIO sippy cup and said: "there are so many new products on the market boasting that hey are BPA free, but they are still plastic."  I know its nearly impossible to go completely plastic free but I like to do the best I can.

These Yoga Planet cards were what got me the most excited! As you all know, we are big on yoga around here. They are beautifully illustrated and have all sorts of yoga poses, games and relaxation ideas on each card. When I used to teach kids yoga (ages 5 to 12), I would use the Yoga Pretzels card deck and would allow each child to pick a card from the deck and ask them to "teach" their pose to me and the rest of class. The possibilities with games and independent play are endless with a stack of cards like this. If you want to make yoga apart of your family's lifestyle, and you are not a yoga pro yourself, this really is a must have.

Penelope is REALLY into farm animals these days. She loves to do her signs or make noises. Or rather, attempt to make noises, the only noises she has in her repertoire, is a really good elephant and very weird meow noise. Both are very cute. We even took her to a farm this weekend and she got to see all sorts of animals in person. You could just see her brain expanding while we were there! She was putting it all together that the animals in the books are real!

Anyway, so she saw the farm books in the stash, There's a Cow in the Cabbage Patch and The Farmyard Jamboree, and she grabbed it from my hands and sat down with it.

The one above is a board book and the picture doesn't do it justice, the art is actually pictures of hand sewn felt masterpieces! It's amazing!

Current Giveaway: Green Toys Feeding Set!

Green Toys sent me a set of their BPA Free Feeding Bowls, Feeding Utensils and Plates.  They came just in the nick of time.  Penelope has been doing really great with Baby Led Weaning.  She pretty much eats whatever we are eating for dinner now.  She is not eating a ton in general, and sometimes she just chews the food and spits it out.  Some nights she eats a bunch, it just depends on her mood.  Every night, she eats one egg yolk.   I use the bowl to pour the egg yolk in after I boil the egg and break it open.  And I use the plate to put a few bite sized pieces of food on it and let her go to town eating whatever she chooses.  I spoon fed her the egg yolk and use the spoon that came in the utensil package.  It's so tiny and cute!  Penelope loves to grab it and take it from me to try and feed herself.

I am thrilled with all three products!  And I love having several of each to use.  The look so freaking cute stacked in my cabinets. 

The company is oh so crunchy and green, um hello they named it Green Toys for a reason!  They use recycled milk jugs to make everything.  They are made in the USA, California to be exact.  All Green Toys products are packaged in recycled corrugated boxes with no plastics, cellophane or twist-ties, and are 100% recyclable.   And most importantly, the products contain no traceable amounts of Phthalates or BPA. As a Doula with the majority of my clients having hospital births, I always hated seeing moms in the ugly hospital gowns. They make a gorgeous pregnant mama, about to give birth, look dowdy and tired. They also somehow give an air of defeat to the mother.  My clients that have brought their own pretty nightgown to labor and give birth in, feel more confident and usually are in better moods and happier throughout their labor. They seem to do better in labor, because they feel good about themselves and their body.

I used to sell BINSI, when I had the studio and boutique, and have been a fan of the company for awhile. The skirt and top I am giving away, was actually planned for Penelope's birth. But then I gained a whopping 65 pounds (which I have shed, thank you very much). My boobs, belly and butt had taken on a life of their own and I couldn't fit into a size medium to save my life. Kimberly Taylor, the owner of BINSI, was kind enough to send me a skirt and top in a larger size. However, my when my labor started it STARTED! I took a bath at the very beginning of my labor to see if the contractions would slow down or if it was the real deal. By the time I got out of the bath, 45 minutes later, I was in full labor, vomiting, water breaking, thinking I was going to die, you know, labor.  I never put clothes back on the rest of my labor! I had them all ready to go in my birth basket, but I was naked the entire time and never got to wear my fabulous BINSI skirt and top. But I will try to wear them again with our next baby!

I am so excited about this giveaway!  About two months ago, before I started experimenting with solids for Penelope, I ordered this bib in Dots Blue.  I LOVE it!  I like that it is long sleeved, because Penelope likes to paint her body with food more than putting it in her mouth, and the pocket in the front catches pieces that don't make it in her mouth (and 80% does not make it in!).  It can double as an art smock as well.  AND it's made by an American company, and the fabric is organic!  Couldn't ask for a better product.

I'll start: My favorite memory so far, is the very first time Penelope tasted a food.  She was about 5 months old and was grabing and holding onto everything she could get her little hands on.  I was chopping up vegetables for dinner and she was in her bumbo on the counter, watching.  She started to get fussy, but I wasn't done chopping vegetables, so I gave her a big slice of red pepper to keep her entertained.  She immediatly put it in her mouth.  Then, she looked up at me, her eyes wide in amazement.  Her face was priceless!  It was if she was saying, "Oh. My. God.  There are other tastes in the world other than breast milk!"  She was in shock!
