Baby Footprint Memories

Since Penelope was two days old, we have been creating ink stamps of her sweet, little feet.

It all started because the second day she was born, our midwife came over and stamped her feet for our birth records. It was so cute, it inspired us to keep going!

I haven't been doing a baby scrapbook so this is a nice, simple, crafty baby memory thing to do, if you don't want to deal with a fancy baby scrapbook. I do keep a journal of all her milestones and exciting information. I started that when I was pregnant. I write to her in it, in hopes that she will read it one day when she is pregnant for the first time.

Right now I am not quite sure what to do with all them or how to preserve them for the long haul. I would also love to incorporate them into a decoration for her 1st Birthday.

Anybody got any ideas??

  1. I made a 12 month banner of pictures for my son's first birthday and you can do that with out harming the precious footsie prints.

  2. That is a great idea! Thanks for sharing. His birthday party looked adorable! And I noticed Blake was wearing a Dream Eze diaper in the last picture, that is the kind of cloth diaper we use too!

  3. I would start by scanning those and keeping copies of them backed up...that way you can print them off if you want, maybe put them in a photo book of some sort. In case the originals get damaged somehow it is good to have them scanned.

You could then print them out in multiples and use them all around for decorations...cut them out, enlarge them, put them on the floors, ceiling, etc...group them by color or age....you could do some really cute stuff.

Or you could hang them on a clothes line with clothes pins and add a few favorite baby outfits in between with some favorite pics too.

    Such a cute idea!

  4. Hi Jamie! That is a fantastic idea to scan them! I will put that on the hubby's to-do list today.

And I love the idea of the clothes line with the footprints and her favorite outfits. Going to do that for sure. :)

  5. While nursing LMA today I got THE answer... quilt them. I know you can have the images scanned onto fabric and then you can find a neat way to put them together.

  6. ooooo, that is a good idea too, Lia! I wonder how the heck I could scan them onto fabric? Maybe I could even silk screen print them somehow??

I am already planning on making her a quilt from scrap fabric of all the things I make for her, so it would be very cool to incorporate her footprints. I am going to give it to her before she gets married. Yes, I already am planning her bridal shower.
