Pinterest Love: Painted Wood

Before I met my husband, I was the kind of girl that would paint wood furniture all the time.  In college, almost every piece of furniture in my house was painted. I don't know what it is, maybe I watched way too much HGTV my senior year of high school, but I just love the look.

Peter is the kind of guy who is snooty about painted furniture.   He makes turned wood pieces of art and builds furniture from scratch and thinks that the wood is sacred and should not be covered. 


Which I get and with beautiful wood, I understand, but not all wood is the same.  And plus, I feel the itch to paint some furniture coming on!! 

We are in need of a head board in our master bedroom, since we put our bed in the guest bedroom, when we moved our mattress to the floor to make co-sleeping with Penelope safe.


I saw this and fell in love.  Not sure where the heck I can get a used door cheap, but sure it is cool.

 

This is not furniture, but I really, really want to do this to my garden. Maybe later this winter, when it is all dreary outside.

Pinterest Love: Purple Color Story

I have been in purple/lavender mood lately.  I don't know if I am because I have been seeing it out when I shop or I was drawn to it first.  Either way, purple is a color that looks good on me and I love purple as a Fall color.  You can see all my purple pins here.

I wanted to do a purple color story for our family portraits with Robin Adams Photography coming up soon.  I got this dress for Penelope:

If you are Facebook with me, you know that she has some ridiculously cute brown boots that are going to be perfect with this dress.


I am going to wear either a purple dress and brown boots, but that might be too matchy-matchy, or a purple sweater and jean skirt with brown boots.  What do you think?


I might even do my nails a purple color.  Or is that too much purple?

I have no idea what Peter will wear, maybe jeans and a brown shirt?  


I love photography, and love having our portraits done, but oh, the stress it puts on me, since I am recovering perfectionist.  I want to get everything perfect and to live up to the vision I have in my head, of how I want the images to feel and turn out.  This time we are going to take our pictures at Railroad Square, an urban/funky/artsy part of town that should make for a really great background.  Can't wait!

Pinterest Love: Apple Birthday Party

I am officially in full birthday party planning mode!  So exciting!  


Last year, Pre-Pinterest, to find inspiration, for Penelope's first birthday, I spent hours and hours and hours searching google and blogs to find ideas and tutorials.  Then I had to copy and save the link in a google document to refer back to it.


But, ah, my beloved Pineterest, has changed everything!  Now I have too many ideas! I need help narrowing it down.  The menu, the decor, I want it to be beautiful, but as always, I want to do things that are as easy and quick as possible.

Pinterest Love: Candy Corn

I am having such fun curating boards on Pinterest, that I thought I would start posting them here, on Friday's.

Maybe I could even do a linky carnival and you all could link up your favorite boards too!  Would that be something ya'll want to do?

There are a million cute Halloween costumes and crafts on Pinterest right now, but I have really been inspired by Candy Corn.  Last year, I saw this wreath on a cover of a magazine and wanted to make one so bad!  I found some candy corn ribbon and wrapped it around the wreath instead, not exactly the same effect, but pretty cute.
